August 25 – Hiking Trip
August 17, 2012 | Leave a Comment
SPACS and COS graduate students and professors,
The school year is about to begin. Before everyone gets too bogged down with classwork, research, and the likes, the SPACS Graduate Student Association (SGSA) would like to invite you to a hiking excursion to Great Falls park (Maryland) on the morning of Saturday, August 25th . This will be a great opportunity to meet your peers or just hang out with those you don’t see outside of classes. If you’re interested in joining us on our trip and either need a ride, or are interested in driving others please RSVP to akoufos@gmu.edu and let us know if you need a ride or how many people you are able to drive. The parking at Great Falls has a small fee per car for entering the park so car pooling is a good idea.
The plan so far:
- Car pooling people will meet at George Mason, Lot C, behind the Aquatic and Fitness Center, at 9:00AM (Saturday morning)
- Meet in the parking lot at 10:00AM
- Hike the Billy Goat Trail – Section A. The trail is said to be moderate, but with a few strenuous parts.
- The trail is 4 miles long and takes about 2.5 hours to hike, we should be done by 1:00PM at the latest.
- It is summer in Virginia so dress accordingly
- Bring water (at least 2 liters) and snacks
If people want to go out for lunch afterwards they are welcome to, we’ll likely make plans on the fly. Please RSVP to akoufos@gmu.edu so we have a head count.
It’s time to get outside enjoy some sunshine, hope to see you all there.
